I used this very briefly when we were trying to get my dog used to my husband's cat. He hated it and I could only let him wear it for 20 minutes or so because it doesn't give him enough room to pant or drink water. He absolutely hated it and would only go sit in his crate when he had it on so it didn't matter anyway. I found another way to get him used to the cats without the muzzle and it was fine.

If you need to muzzle your dog in hot weather or longer than a few minutes, get the basket type muzzle.

Pros: good in an emergency or for very short periods

Cons: Doesn't allow enough room for panting, not safe for long periods
