I wanted some sort of tick control for my dogs. I didn't like the idea of putting chemicals directly on their skin. My vet recommended the Preventix collar. I feel that it works extremely well! We do live in a very wooded area so ticks are rampant! This has detered the ticks. I did find two crawling on our lab but they were not embedded. We have used these collars for the dogs since they were at least a year old and have had great success. We also get the Lyme vaccine also as an extra precautionary measure. Ticks are horrendous already and it's only April!

Wonderful product, it keeps the ticks off my dogs and it's waterproof so even if they play in the sprinkler or rain it still does it's job. One little tip the vets office gave me when I purchased this was that I didn't need to purchase seperate collars for my 2 small dogs I could just divide one between them and fasten it with a safety pin. Good way to save money!

These collars work great, they keep the ticks from even attaching to your dog. Be cautious though because some dogs do have side effects from these collars, but if they do you just remove the collars and everything is back to normal.

In N.J., where we have plenty of ticks, this collar is not very effective. Ticks crawl right over the collar and we have found some sitting on the collar.

Pros: May discourage some ticks from biting
