The Petmate Indigo Dog Home gives canines a comfy year-round home.
September 1, 2011 4:11 pm | By Zootoo Editor Flinn D.
At first glance, the Petmate Indigo Dog Home displays its function loud and clear. Not only is this comfortable dog house shaped like an igloo, but the product design also simulates the shape and color of ice bricks, giving you a mini-replica of an Arctic abode for your dog to nest in.
But the Petmate Indigo Dog House is not just for winter weather. The home features a special foam construction that offers your dog protection from the chill in the winter — but also keeps the house cool in the summertime as well. Combined with the ventilation on the top, which can be adjusted depending on the time of year, the structure of the Petmate Indigo makes the house an excellent choice for a year-round dog home.
Other features of the Petmate Indigo Dog Home clearly keep your dog’s comfort in mind. The house is as durable as they come, ensuring that the elements will be kept at bay (and that the house can’t be destroyed by power-chewer pooches). Also, the house’s long doorway provides extra stretching room, as well as additional safety from wind and rain. And the material is treated with Microban, an antimicrobial that can help keep odors and mildew from nesting in the house, especially helpful if you live in a rainy or humid climate.
And owners will appreciate other features of the Petmate Indigo, such as the easy-to-assemble design — just snap the top onto the house’s base. And the price, under $90 during some online sales, will also allow owners to enjoy the durable, functional Petmate Indigo Dog Home without feeling as though they’re breaking the bank.
Pros: Design and construction provides safety and sturdiness; easy-to-assemble; reasonable price.
Cons: None.

Cozy and Cute!
posted 11 months ago
This was easy to assemble and my dog loves it. He used to hang out under tables, chairs, etc so I thought he would like to have his own little den. He actually sleeps inside. Everynight at bedtime I give him a Healthy Bones dog treat (he’s on a super-healthy, Natural Balance only diet) and he knows that means bedtime, and then goes right inside this cozy doghouse and right to sleep! Such a good boy!
Pros: Easy to put together, fun
Cons: none

Durable

I don't like the idea of outdoor dogs and therefore, all my dogs are primarily indoor dogs now. My largest, however, does spend some time outside and I have had outdoor dogs in the past. Our family dog - an American bulldog - went through several different dog houses. All of them fell apart within a few years and had to be replaced. It wasn't until I got my current big dog that I got the Petmate Indigo home. She came to us with it, having been an indoor/outdoor dog in her former home, as well. It was easy to assemble - you just put the top of the house (the "igloo" part) on the base and snap it into place. It's pretty big for our 35 lb dog and housed a 50 lb dog and a 65 lb dog at one point, as well. It currently houses a 30 lb dog that we are taking care of. She isn't ours yet, but hopefully will be one day. We kind of "donated" the house to her. This dog house has lasted us through about five years and still holds up through rain, snow, and sun. Our dogs are rarely ever outside during the elements. However, there have been some times where we weren't able to get home in time to bring them inside and this dog house sheltered them perfectly. Whereas many dog houses on the market will leak during rain and therefore, flood, this one never has. It no longer snaps in place properly (it's been through four or five dogs, how could it?) but it is still durable and sturdy. All the dogs that have had it seemed to accept it right off the bat where they'd take time to adjust to most dog houses. I don't recommend keeping dogs outdoors, personally, but if you do, I recommend this dog house over most of the others. My only complaint is that it's difficult to move even though it comes apart. You kind of have to "drag" the top piece.
Pros: Easy assembly, big, durable, no leaks during the elements
Cons: hard to move
