The Merry Products Ice Cream House for Dogs provides indoor and outdoor comfort.
September 1, 2011 6:48 pm | By Zootoo Editor Flinn D.
With its appealing trim and adorable paned windows, the Ice Cream House for Dogs from Merry Products certainly lives up to its name — offering dogs a sweet confection of a house. And although the Merry Products Ice Cream House can stand up to inclement weather outdoors, the design and size of the home can also work comfortably indoors.
The material of the Merry Products Ice Cream House shares the same good quality as the company’s other dog houses. The wood is Asian fir, making the house nicely built to handle different types of weather year-round. This type of wood also makes the house lightweight — a bonus for owners who want to bring the house indoors or outdoors depending on the weather. However, one drawback of a lighter weight of wood is that if your dog is a power chewer or scratcher, he may be able to do some damage to the house over time.
The Merry Products Ice Cream House also features a few convenient touches for owners. The roof and floor come off easily for hosing down in the backyard, and the house is relatively easy to assemble. The construction isn’t quite snap-on, snap-off — you should be prepared to do some assembly of the separate panels — but compared to similar wooden dog houses, you probably won’t be tearing your hair out to accomplish the job.
Keep in mind that the size of the house — just under 2 feet in height — is better for small and medium-sized dogs (or even felines) than for larger dogs. But on the plus side, if you decide that you love having the cute trim and windows of this fun pet home around too much to keep it outside, the scaled-down size of the Ice Cream House for Dogs means that the whole household — felines and canines included — can also enjoy the home indoors.
Pros: Suitable for indoor and outdoor use; attractive design.
Cons: Power chewers and scratchers may be able to damage the wood.
