Pet Pectillin Diarrhea Medication is useful as an aid in the treatment of diarrhea in pets. It contains pectin and Kaolin. Pectin provides a protective coating to irritated gastro-intestinal membranes. It is also a detoxifying agent against the bacterial toxins, which cause inflammation of the gastrointestinal membranes and diarrhea. Kaolin, an absorbent, increases the bulk and slows down the passage of feces while promoting excretion of toxins within the gastro-intestinal tract. Improvement should be noticeable in 2 to 3 days. Instructions: Shake well before using. Dogs and Cats: Mix with food or feed directly every four hours. Up to 15 lbs; one teaspoon. 15-50 lbs; 2 teaspoons. Over 50 lbs; 1 tablespoon. Puppies and kittens approximately one month old with diarrhea should be seen by a veterinarian. Birds: Mix with food or feed directly by eyedropper every four hours. Parakeets, canaries - 2 - 4 drops. Larger Birds; in proportion to size. If symptoms persist after use for two to three days, consult a veterinarian.

Impossible to give my cat

posted 7 years ago

I purchased this medicine on recommendation from a local pet food store. On the bos the medicine indicates this is good for dogs, cats and birds.

I tried to give this medicine to my cat twice. Both times he "flipped out" when I put the medicine in his mouth & spit it out. He continued foaming/drooling for a while, and the white medicine marked my carpet and walls where he drooled. -- Hold him down, you say. My cat because super-strong when I gave him this medicine, shreding a towel and my husband's hands and legs.

I did not try mixing this in with my cat's food, as I have 5 other cats and didn't want them ingesting the medicine.

This medicine may be better for people with one cat, or possibly work better on dogs and bird.

Pros: Supposedly easy to mix with food

Cons: Cat didn't like taste - formula stains carpet & walls

I have 3 cats and they love this food. They eat less and walk away with a full belly. Eating less means pooping less and less litter. All around a great choice for my cats.
