This is a life saver!

posted 5 years ago

My dog became really sore after we walked her down Mt Mansfield in Vt after riding the gondola up. She was 15 at the time and it messed her up for about 3-4 weeks. She was so sore she could hardly function. Someone at Camp Gone to the Dogs had one of these harnesses on their dog and when I saw it, knew it was a solution. I went home and ordered it. Last summer she was stricken with vestibular disease (now 16+) and really was very unstable. She has worn the harness ever since. When I lost my previous dog to cancer, I bought one of the slings they make for this purpose but it was pretty useless. I had more success with a seat belt harness, but this Ruff Wear harness is the best.
I think it is the reason I can still deal with my dog's severe arthritis. She falls all the time, sometimes in positions that she can't get out of. I reach down and grab the harness and give her a boost. I hold it every time she goes up and down the stairs which I only let her do once a day to go up to our bedroom for the night. She also has trouble not collapsing while going to the bathroom so I hold her stable with it then too. I can lift her with it too to move her over ice or some other hazard.

I'm so enthusiastic about this product I wrote the company and have recommended it to everyone I know with senior dogs. Gotten a few people to buy them and no one is disappointed.

Pros: Best thing on the market to assist your geriatric dog

Cons: about once every 3 or 4 weeks, my dog somehow slips her leg into the neck opening and I have to take it off and put it back on.

My wife ordered this for our older dog and it was perfect

posted 5 years ago

My wife bought this for our senior dog when she became very sore after over exerting herself. As she aged, she wore it all the time because it made it so easy to help her with stairs, etc and pick her up if she fell over. Best thing on the market for seniors becoming disabled even though it was originally made for a different purpose.

Pros: enables dog handler to assist senior dog when they are loosing mobility

Cons: none

Great coverage

posted 5 years ago

I purchased this item at a discount store for my Shepherd/Husky mix. While she doesn't wear it that often I bought it for when she gets older and may need more assistance getting up and down. This item seemed to fit what I was looking for. I like the material and the ease of putting it on. She looks great in it and I recommend it for anyone with an active dog.

Pros: Great for older dogs

Cons: none

Can be used on a rabbit

posted 5 years ago

I adopted a domestic rabbit many years ago, and I wanted to take him outside so he could chew grass and get fresh air. I purchased a small harness for him to use with a leash, and it worked out fine, he did not protest it being put on him and he enjoyed the freedom of being outdoors, and the threat of him running off and geting lost was prevented.

Pros: got a good fit

Cons: only wear while being supervised so they don't chew through it
