I dont believe in letting your dogs out when your not watching. You should be keeping an eye on your pet instead of letting it roam free where ever it goes... it could get hit by a car or get lost. Whether or not your dog is trained ...if your not watching you dont know what they could be doing. Also animals can get in an dout or your pet could get stuck when your not home!

i used mine for bathroom accessibility and they could still get into the warm (or cool) house for comfort while i was at work. they went into a fenced in back yard and i loved it!

these things are good to have you dont have to worry about letting your dog in and out the only thing you have to worry about is your dog coming in dirty after it rains but not your floor getting wet by the rain that is what is so great

Pet doors are only safe if they are going out into a securely fenced area. Even then I would rather just let them out when I want to. So what is wrong with opening and closing the door?
