Tillman's Training Tips from Natural Balance mix healthy ingredients with an appealing texture.

January 25, 2011 4:44 pm | By Zootoo Editor Flinn D.

Tillman’s Training Tips, by Natural Balance, are soft, moist treats made from all natural ingredients with no artificial preservatives or coloring. Dick Van Patten’s formula has worked yet again so notch up another victory for those of us lobbying for the doing away of artificial preservatives, flavors and colorings in dog food.

Give your pooch a taste of Tillman’s and you’ll see why these snacks don’t need anything artificial – the treats are not only delicious, but their texture is also firm and chewy and will satisfy your dog’s natural craving for meat by giving them — drumroll, please — real meat! Turkey, maple syrup, potato protein and barley flour are just a few of the great natural ingredients used in Tillman’s that will stimulate your dog’s taste buds and zap him with much needed nutrients at the same time. Another bonus to buying a Natural Balance product is that in addition to using ingredients that are excellent for the environment and your pet, the company donates a portion of their profits to charities every year.

So what’s in a name? In case you’re confused as to who Tillman is and why he has a dog food named after him, you may recognize him as the skateboarding bulldog from the iPhone commercial. One downside to Tillman’s treats that I discovered on a recent training session is that they can be soft and crumbly. I packed my pockets with them the other day and headed out for a training sesh with my mutt. Once we had reached the dog park and he had gone through a couple sits and downs I dove into my pocket to reward him and found that the Tillman’s Treats had crumbled. So be warned, if you pack Tillman’s for a walk, put them in a plastic bag. But this is a small downside to an otherwise top-quality training treat.

Pros: Made from real meat; portion of proceeds go to charity.

Cons: None.

Tillman on TV!

posted 2 years ago

My dog loves the Natural Balance food rolls but when I saw Tillman on animal planet this past Saturday morning on his new show it reminded me that I wanted to try these. We just did and just as I thought – Monkey went crazy! He loved them and they are very healthy and soft. We plan on trying all the flavors eventually.

Pros: Fun, tasty, soft, nutritious

Cons: none

These Treats are THE BEST!

posted 2 years ago

Max my bulldog loves these treats! We found out about them because we are HUGE Dodgers fans and went to Bark in The Park. Steve Garvey and Tillman were there, and when Max tried the treats he went crazy! He loves them – I think he had so much fun that day that the treats remind him of Tillman. We buy all the flavors and also use Natural Balance dry food too.

Pros: tasty, soft, nutritous, healthy, fun

Cons: none

I have 3 cats and they love this food. They eat less and walk away with a full belly. Eating less means pooping less and less litter. All around a great choice for my cats.
