I have older dogs. My akita has some arthritis in his hind legs. When his dish was just on a place mat on the floor. He would shake his hind legs and occasionally slip. However, with the elevated feeder he is not shaking his hind legs, it seems easier for him to stand and eat. The stand is metal and durable, very easy to wipe clean. I have also noticed that he is having less gas after eating since using the elevated feeder.
The only con is that it is not adjustable, it is only one height. While the height is perfect for my akita, it is just a little tall for my lab mix.
Pros: Easy on older dogs
Cons: stand is not adjustable
