No need to treat the house!

posted 7 years ago

I am a veterinarian and I recommend this product to all my clients. I still see people try to use a flea shampoo or collar for flea control-- these will kill some fleas, but not enough if you are having a flea problem. Flea shampoos kill only the fleas on the dog in the bathtub. Once they are dry, new fleas can and will jump on. Flea collars only kill fleas that happen to wander up to the neck. Plus neither will treat the environment-- Frontline plus has an insect growth hormone that will reduce the hatching in the house. I tell clients to apply Frontline to all their pets and just vacuum the house thoroughly, change the vacuum cleaner bag, and don't bother with spraying or fogging the house. The Frontline will do the rest.
We live in a heavy tick area, with Lyme Disease, so the tick protection is important yearround, as ticks can be active anytime there are temperatures above 32 degrees. I have personally pulled a tick off a dog in January in Northern NY! Unfortunately, no product is 100% against ticks, but this will help reduce the tick exposure. Talk to your vet for other tick strategies if you still see ticks.

Pros: Effective and Safe

Cons: Temporary yellow stripe on my white dog

It's the SEASON again, get out the frontline PLUS!

posted 6 years ago

Frontline plus is what I use on Blaze.
It kills all ticks and keeps them from biting in the first place.
We walk in the woods A LOT and this is a MUST for every dog who goes out into tick season!
Defend your dog ... you don't want him to get Lyme disease do you??

Pros: nothing works as well

Cons: expensive, but worth it

Very effective product

posted 6 years ago

I use this product on my dogs and it's great. My vet recommended it as opposed to others because not only does it kill fleas, it kills their eggs as well. My dogs have never had fleas - which is great because we are surrounded on all 3 sides by homes who have other dogs, and we also have quite a few big trees, bushes and patches of ivy. I am very satisfied with this product.

Pros: Kills fleas AND their eggs

Cons: Stays wet for quite a while
