Stop the spread...quickly
posted 5 years ago
These parvo snap tests are a great way to try to determine the presence of parvo and help to stop the spread of the disease. The test is not 100% accurate though as sometimes there can be false positives if the dog/puppy has been recently vaccinated.
Pros: gives diagnosis quickly
Cons: not always accurate

Easy as a click

Our shelter uses the Idexx Parvo Snap Test. It is so easy to use. Get the bad poo, put it on the test Q tip, cover it back up, snap the purple stem allowing the blue liquid to go down into the Q tip, squeeze 5 times, put 5 drops in the test kit, wait until the liquid reaches the top, then SNAP, the test. Wait 10 minutes and read.
Yes, it is that easy.
Pros: easy to use
Cons: can't think of any

For years we trusted the Idexx Parvo Snap Test
posted 4 years ago
We have trusted the Idexx Parvo Snap Test for years. Just this year we tested and confirmed with our vet that our dogs were getting the new strain of parvo. The Idexx Parvo Snap test did not test positive for this strain every time. Idexx really needs to update their test to include this new strain (it's actually been around for a long time but has just hit our city hard).
Pros: Trusted to detect the old strain of parvo
Cons: Does not detect the new strain of parvo

Helpful test
posted 5 years ago
Folks at our shelter have used this for dogs that have come in & may be going on transports. They have found the test helpful because you get a result quickly, but the results may not be accurate if the dog was recently vaccinated. It is a useful test over all though.
Pros: quick results
Cons: results can be skewed if dog recently vaccinated

Hopefully Negative!

Used to tell owners if their dog is positve for parvo and if so treatment can be started right away. The early parvo gets treated the better the outcome usually.
Pros: If positve can start treatment
Cons: sometimes get false positives
