Treat emergencies and know what to do next
posted 6 years ago
The author has a strong background for this book - Dr. Fogle is an emergency veterinarian and has written other books about dogs.
He covers the subject of first aid logically, with separate sections on procedures that are common to many emergencies, evaluation of the patient after first aid to decide what to do next, procedures for specific incidents, and how to prevent emergencies from happening in the first place.
In the section on specific procedures, Fogle provides both a description in text and a decision flow chart - do you see X? If yes, do this, if no, do that.
Nothing replaces in-person instruction and supervised practice, but the opportunities for that are limited for many people.
Knowing about a dogs' needs during an emergency is a great start.
Pros: Broad range of information
Cons: none noted
