Zymox Otic A Very Good Product

posted 7 years ago

Sugar has floppy ears, and has chronic ear infections. After taking her to the vet time and again, I started researching to see if there was something I could keep on hand to thwart her infections. I came across Zymox Otic with hydrocortisone which had great reviews. I was a little skeptic at first, but decided to go ahead and give it a try.

This is an enzymatic solution that contains the natural enzymes lactoferrin, lactoperoxidase, and lysozyme with the addition of 1% hydrocortisone. The label indicates it to be for the treatment of otitis externa both acute and chronic due to bacterial and yeast infections.

Instructions for use stated to apply liberally into the ear once a day for seven days. I found that it needs to be applied twice a day for seven days to get the results desired. To maintain her ears applying one dose weekly is great. Would I recommend purchasing this product? Yes.

I don't recommend just going out and buying this product if you have never sought treatment for your dogs ear problem. Infection is often the cause of ear irritation but there could also be other causes such as ear mites.

Pros: Effective against ear infections, helps maintain healthy ears.

Cons: Needs to be applied at least twice a day not once like label states.

Easy to use

posted 6 years ago

I am using this right now for a foster dog with a yeast infection. It is very easy to apply to his ears - the medicine is not too watery or messy. He doesn't mind and certainly doesn't shake his head much after application like I have seen with other meds. It works great, and he is definitely getting better!

Pros: easy to apply, dog doesn't mind it

Cons: none

Effective!

This is the product the veterinarians recommend where I work. They tend to approach treatment from a more natural, holistic background - and they often prescribe this product for the ears. Clients seem to be happy with the price and how it works.

Pros: Works!

Cons: None
