Purina Pro Plan Small Breed Formula combines nutrition and flavor.
July 21, 2010 1:49 pm | By Zootoo Editor Flinn D.
If you have a small dog with finicky tastes, you know what an elaborate process it can be to find a kibble he or she likes that is both healthy and digestible. Purina’s Small Breed Formula is made specifically for dogs weighing under 20 lbs. The food’s primary ingredient is chicken, but the product also contains brown rice to help with digestion.
Pro Plan ensures that all their dog foods contain a balance of six important food groups; water, protein, fat, carbohydrates, minerals and vitamins. The nutrient-dense Small Breed Formula is no exception — packed into small, bite size pieces, Pro Plan contains high levels of antioxidants that assist with overall health and wellness as well as vital proteins, animal fat containing vitamin E and fish meal, which provides much needed glucosamine.
When I filled my small dog’s bowl with Pro Plan for the first time he dove right in and ate the whole bowl. He clearly loved the taste, as well as the bite-size kibbles created for dogs his size. The calorie-packed formula boosted his energy (not a small feat in a French bulldog) and the rich, vitamin-infused ingredients contributed to his overall health.
The only drawback to the kibble is a non dog-related one — I found that they were so small that when they spilled outside the bowl they skittered into hard to reach places and were hard to pick up. But this is a small (no pun intended) price to pay for a happy, healthy pooch.
Pros: Vitamin-packed, dogs love the taste.
Cons: Smaller sized pieces make feeding time messy.

Good Food for Small Breed dogs
posted 4 years ago
We bought this one time when the store was out of our regular food. The dogs took a bite, and looked up to ask, "what's up with my food?" They did eat it, but they seem to prefer the other food, which is smaller bites and has more than one type food. This is a good backup food for the times we need it.
Pros: Good size bites
Cons: My dogs prefer another brand

Great dog food!
posted 5 years ago
My chihuahua was having trouble putting on weight. We decided to get her this food to try. Not only does she love it, but she has already put on a little weight and she looks more vibrant in general! so i know that it is definitely helping her. And she goes crazy about the taste. I will definitely be feeding her this for a long time!
Pros: nutritious
Cons: a little expensive
