I highly recommend this for dogs with hair problems

posted 5 years ago

I got my chihauhau when she was four months old in April 2006. She was completely hairless from her neck down, and her hair was very thin on the rest of her body. I took her to the pet store the first day I had her to start socializing her, and as I was carrying her a lady stopped me and said I needed to give her Nutro Lamb and Rice to help her hair grow in. A few minutes later, another woman stopped me and said the same thing. Prettty sure they knew something I didn't, I bought a bag and some cans and started her on the food. The first thing I noticed is she loved the taste of it. After a few weeks, hair started coming in, and started to thicken. By the time she was 8 months old, she had a healthy coat. In an emergency food run at 11pm one night, I had to buy food at a grocery store and ended up with a national brand lamb and rice formula, thinking that would be fine. By the time we finished that bag, she was nearly hairless again. It was unbelievable, but it really did happen! I put her back on Nutro Lamb and Rice and she has not had any hair problems since. I will never take her off this food. The small bites variety is perfect for her small mouth and sensitive teeth. My dog is also a picky eater, and she actually gets excited when I pull the bag out to feed her. I recommend this to everyone who has any kind of hair problems with their dog. Every dog and cat in my house is on Nutro of some kind or another depending on their specific needs, and we have noticed results in each of them.

Pros: good taste, healthy food, good price, easy to find

Cons: none

Small bites lite

posted 5 years ago

My dogs do very well with this food. There is no stomach upset, no runny stools and they all seem to like the taste. Their coats look so much better since I started them on this food. Every other type of food I tried, they would pick over it; they clean their bowls now. I use the lite which has helped get some excess lbs off of them and they have kept it off. Wish I could find something that worked that well for me!
It's a little expensive but worth it!

Pros: small bites, easier for my dogs to eat

Cons: a little pricey

Great food my dogs love but is it really that healthy for them??

posted 5 years ago

My dogs have been eating Nutro for about a year now and they love it. I was doing some research online the other day tho because I was afraid one of my dogs might have cancer and I stumbled upon some reading which said that dogs foods made up mostly of grains and rice are not good for a dog because they are carnivorous in nature and their body can't break down the carbohydrates. Too much is no good for them. Too much carbs in a dogs diet does not help with cancer issues. This is a according to a website. I am happy to sayy my dog does not have cancer. But now I am alittle leary about Nutro dog food.

Pros: My dogs love it and it contains no animal biproducts

Cons: It contains alot of grains which may not be so healthy for a dog
