I've had my weim on Orijen which is another awesome food made by Champion( A small family owned canadian company), unfortunately he does not have a very high metabolism so even with reduced portions, he was slowly gaining weight. So I was quite happy when I heard that Chamption decided to make another food practically identical to Orijen but lower protein.
So I got the bag of the chicken formula (prarie), opened the bag, it looks/smells the same as orijen, of course Uno loves the taste, licks the bowl clean and looks for more.
While I think Orijen is an excellent food, its not for every pup, its better suited for dogs with high metabolism or working/hunting/agility dogs.
Uno only eat 1.5 cups a day total and he's 65 lbs, I know people who have weims his size and they feed 4-5 cups of grocery store kibble because its all filler and it takes a lot more food for them to get the proper nutrition. So even thoug the initial cost may seem steep, since I'm feeding less, I'm saving money in the long run, not to mention less visits to the vet, less cleanup and overall happy healthy dog. He has boundless energy( sometimes a little too much), clean eyes/ears and soft, super shiny coat.
I plan on trying another grain free food to rotation, so I'll post a review on it soon.
