No more fish soup, please.

By nature, all dogs are facultative carnivores, thriving on a varied diet of meats with smaller amounts of fruits, vegetables and grasses and biologically adapted to metabolize proteins and fats - not carbohydrates - as an energy source.

High-protein and low-carbohydrate, ORIJEN ADULT's grain-free formula replicates the same rich balance of meats, fruits, vegetables and grasses that dogs would encounter in a wilderness setting.

Made with the highest inclusions of fresh grain-fed chicken meat, wild-caught northern whitefish and fresh whole eggs, ORIJEN is bursting with the protein-packed, veterinary-inspected meats (minimum 70%) that form a Biologically Appropriate diet,—and none of the grains or carbohydrates that are inappropriate for your dog.

Instead of grain, ORIJEN contains a full complement of regional fruits and vegetables (minimum 30%) that supply important natural antioxidants and phytochemicals.

Chicken, flax, sunflower, salmon and anchovy oils provide the essential fatty acids that dogs cannot produce themselves (including DHA and EPA) and are so important to nutritionally support the development of cell membranes, immune systems and a vibrant skin and hair coat.

Bridging the gap between good nutrition and total physical well-being, ORIJEN Adult contains native botanicals that include marshmallow, burdock and chicory root, stinging nettle and milk thistle,— all of which replicate the natural canine diet and help to soothe, nourish and tone the digestive tract, strengthen the liver and control insulin levels.

Orijen Adult dog food for Huskys

posted 6 years ago

I started feeding my dogs this close to two months ago when I found a place that supplys Orijen dog food. In two months, my dogs look better, they seem much more active, they cant wait to eat dinner and breakfast and their bowls are spotless after each meal. their coats shine so bright and I think this is due to the salmon oil in the food. On the outgoing end, my dogs has never had such consistant healthy poop, its always solid and never seems to upset their stomach on random day. In the past I have had problems with other food being too rich, or there were too many fillers which cause my dogs stomach to be upset. All in all, I definently reccommend trying this food, the no grain is a huge bennifit for dogs with allergys, and it has a high source of real meat protein and they DO NOT USE ethoxyquin. Also in the past my dog is prone to having urinary track infections, but since i have started to feed her Orijen I have definently noticed her not being ill as often due to orijen being naturally acidic so it helps promote a healthy bladder. Thanks for reading, hope this helps.

Pros: Grain-free, natural ingridients, firm stool (easier to clean up)

Cons: My dog always wants more!

Good Food

posted 5 years ago

I have 2 year old Yorkie who is very picky with his food but somehow he likes Orijen. I switched his food to Orijen because it was made in Canada (I was freaked out by pet food contamination in the past years) and it contained high protein. I found an article talking about dog's diet and it said that a good dog food should contain at least 30% protein and 18% fat and Orijen met those numbers. I also like the idea of cooking the food in small batch with no preservative. It sounds healthy and there is no by-products in the food. When I opened the bag, it actually smelled good. I just wished that they make smaller kibble size for my Yorkie. It is about the same size as a dime. If you get a bag of Orijen puppy, the kibble size is much smaller.

Pros: High protein, contain no preservative.

Cons: Kibble size is not small enough for my Yorkie

Excellent but expensive

posted 5 years ago

We started using this dog food when we got our new dog, Simon, because his breeder suggested it. The food is excellent quality with 70% veterinarian inspected meats and 30% fruits and veggies and botanicals and no grains.
We are just switching all of our dogs over to it, and they love it!
According to orijen
"By nature, all dogs are facultative carnivores, thriving on a varied diet of meats with smaller amounts of fruits, vegetables and grasses and biologically adapted to metabolize proteins and fats - not carbohydrates - as an energy source."

the only down side of this food is that it can be difficult to find and it is expensive. There is only one pet supply store in our area that stocks it, and they keep it on a shelf in the warehouse, not in the store. So if you don't know it is there, you won't find it. We pay around 50-60 dollars for a 30 pound bag which costs about twice what we used to pay for proplan.

Pros: healthy food dogs love it

Cons: expensive

One of the very best

posted 4 years ago

When I stopped buying Canidae b/c they changed their ingredients without notifying consumers, I was pleasantly surprised to find Orijen. Yes it costs more, but I feed less and the health benefits outweigh the extra dollars I spend on food.

Pros: AMAZING ingredients

Cons: none
