Worst food ever

posted 5 years ago

It is preserved with BHA which causes cancer in people and dogs.
~Ingredients~
Ground yellow corn, soybean meal, ground whole wheat, corn syrup, poultry fat, Meat and bone meal (Animal Fat Preserved with BHA and Citric Acid), Chicken by-product Meal, Rice, Animal Digest, Salt, Calcium Carbonate, Potassium Chloride, Choline Chloride, Ferrous Sulfate, Zinc Oxide, Vitamin D and E Supplement, Niacin, Copper Sulafate, Manganous Oxide, Vitamin A Supplement, Calcium Pantothenate, Biotin, Vitamin B12 Supplement, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride, Thiamine Mononitrate, Meadione Sodium Bisulfite Complex Source of Vitamin K, Calcium Iodate, Vitamin D3 Supplement, Riboflavin Supplement, Cobalt Carbonate, Folic Acid, Sodium Selenite, Folic Acid

First of the first ingredients of Ol' Roy dog food in CORN. Corn is pretty much useless as far as a nutrition stand point. Corn does your dog absolutely no good. If that wasn't bad enough lets go head and through some grains in the first five AND THEN lets through sugar in the first five. Who puts sugar in the first five ingredients of dog food? Are you kidding me?

A lot of people decide to buy Ol Roy dog food based on the fact that it is cheap. Thinking like this will catch up to you in vet bills. Your going to take your dog to the vet twice as much as you would if you fed your dog a healthier brand of food.

When looking for dog food, look for a brand that has at least two sources of meat in the first five ingredients, and contains no corn or grains.

Pros: none

Cons: Unhealthy food that will cause problems in long run

Good price- downfall lacks nutritional value

posted 5 years ago

It may not contain all the nutrition a dog needs but for the price in this economy its better than no food?

My dog seems to love it, no problems with stomach upset and it's what his previous owners fed him.

I am hoping to get him vitamins or better food once this bag is gone, but it is good for when you are in a pinch.

Pros: price, value

Cons: nutrional value

Okay if you're on a tight budget

posted 5 years ago

Corn meal is the first listed ingredient in most Ol' Roy food. It's great for people on a really tight budget. It is appealing to the dogs but causes loose stools and sometimes food allergies. For someone who can't afford a premium grade food, it works. It sells like crazy at Walmart and is easy to find a variety of flavors.

Pros: Affordable and easy to find

Cons: Not the best of ingredients

Poor quality food

posted 5 years ago

I've read a lot of the comments and it seems that most people are going to ol roy because of the decrease in cost.... it does mess with the dog's digestion.

I would suggest that mixing the food with a higher quality would be a good 1/2 mark. It should decrease some of the tummy side effects, only increase the cost a mite and will greatly increase the nutritional health of your dog.

Pros: cheap

Cons: poor quality

Bad quality

posted 5 years ago

This dog food is very rich and it causes many dogs to have loose stools, and they tend to defecate a lot more often. It can also cause vomiting, and skin irritation. Their coat looks flaky and is coarse. It is cheap and it meets the nutrient requirements for the dog, but you can find a better quality of food for just $5 more.

Pros: Dogs love it because it is junk food, like when we eat McDonalds

Cons: It is very bad quality
