Great food at a great price

posted 5 years ago

We were having a lot of trouble with our puppy's food. She was having horrible diarrhea on a number of different foods wet and dry. Our shelter strongly suggested that we give her food with meat as the first ingredient. We hesitantly bought a GIANT bag of the costco puppy chow (big gamble but it was as cheap as the small bags of other food) and she loved it - AND diarrhea gone!

Pros: Meat ingredients, my puppy loves it

Cons: can only purchase at costco

I wish this food was still working for us!

posted 4 years ago

My puppy was eating the cheapest Petsmart puppy food at 7 weeks old. I switched her to the Costco Kirkland's puppy food (gradually). She is now 11 months old and she would get loose stools every couple of months. Now it is twice a week, and she has no other symptoms of illness. I'm thinking it has to be the food. Anyone know what ingredient it is in the Costco food that I should look to avoid in whatever I try to switch her too? Should I just start switching her to an adult food? She's an 11 month old yellow lab.

Pros: She loves it! And the ingredients sound good

Cons: She had chronic diarrhea on it :(

Comparable to name brands

At Little Shelter we did an ingredient by ingredient comparison to Science Diet and this food came out very good. It is practically the same ingredients and therefore a decent food.

Pros: Comparable to name brands

Cons: Only available at Costco

A pretty good food at a pretty good price

posted 5 years ago

I fed this to a number of foster puppies last summer. All seemed to do well on. It is, perhaps, not the highest quality food available but it's at least as good as Science Diet, Iams, etc.

Pros: Fairly good ingredients, good price

Cons: Not the absolute best
