My "man of the house" says it unnecessary. He says he "can accomplish the same control for less".

He fashions himself to be the "wizard" of the neighborhood. He may be right.

JUST before I made my purchase, after researching and researching the available perceived solutions to my little "challenge" with the dogs ( often, the neighbor's dogs more than mine ).... my "wizard" came up with a curious alternative.

I won't go into the details, but suffice to say that I have a sneaky suspicion that an Innotek Ultra Smart Electronic Dog Fence is in our immediate future.

Besides, my friend has one and and I've "seen it in action" .... talk talk talk, but seeing is believing !!

I got a quote from Invisible Fence for $1250 and figured I would try put this in myself.

I bought this because it was rechargable and came highly recommened based on online reviews. (e.g. http://www.dogfencediy.com/reviews/)

It was pretty simple to put in, although putting in the ground wire took about half a day of hard work. But sure glad I saved all that money.

Training was a snap, our doberman got it very quickly. Might be harder for other dogs.

Pros: Rechargable collars

Cons: More expensive than some

I'm not against this product but have found that people use it as an excuse not to exercise or walk their dog. Also, other animals can enter the property and cause harm or even death to your dog.

Pros: Can keep most dogs in a certain area

Cons: Can be used as an extension of the home - not good!
