There is nothing like being able to open the door, and let your dog go out in your yard safely and not on a chain. Takes very short time to set up and train - and then years of freedom. It is worth it.

This will work well if you're patient and take the time to work with your pet. It takes a lot of thought and planning.

We used this for years with our first dog. He learned very quickly, and he also learned that if he heard the beep, he could stand there and not get shocked but wear the battery down! So we eliminated the beep. Overall, though, it was effective and even after it died, he still kept within the boundaries even without the collar.

Pros: does keep them within the boundaries most of the time

Cons: they can run through it and then they don't want to come back

Not reliable - spend the extra $$ and go for Invisible Fence brand. I am a long time user of that fence. 24+ yrs
