Good for small dogs
posted 6 years ago
My granddaughter has a small dog and she is away from home for long periods of time during the day. She installed a Hale Dog Door and now she doesn't have to worry about her small dog having an accident in the house. The only problem is that her cats were trying to use it also and they are inside cats. She got collars for them that keep them from going out.
Pros: Saves having to let the dog out when he needs to go
Cons: other animals sometimes use it

Hale dog door is the best
posted 6 years ago
After lots of consideration, we decided to purchase the Hale door-mount dog door. This was 5 years ago and we couldn't be happier with the way the dog door has performed. Hale dog doors are expensive (I think ours was $275 for the large/tall size) but we'd do it again in a minute.
The company helped us decide which size for our application and the installation wasn't too bad either.
There is a locking panel you can insert for night time, which is nice. The dog door has two flaps so there is less draft although you still get some of that. Ours is mounted on the door to a three season porch and I definitely would not want a dog door of any kind coming right into the house. No matter how good it is, you'll still have drafts.
After seeing my sister with a cheaper dog door she has replaced over and over and it still gets destroyed over and over by her dog, I'm glad we chose the Hale.
Pros: two flaps, durable, 5 year warranty
