Easier Than a Toothbrush

posted 6 years ago

Just purchased these because using a toothbrush on the dogs is pretty difficult. I prefer these to the toothbrush. It is easier to tell what I'm doing and where I'm brushing. Very easy to clean - the packaging says it is safe to put them in the dishwasher.

It would be nice if they came in different sizes - they easily slip off of my tiny finger while I'm brushing my dog's teeth.

Overall, much easier than a toothbrush. The dogs don't squirm as much and try to get these out of their mouths.

Pros: Easy to Use, Inexpensive, Helps Teeth & Gums

Cons: Slips Off of My Tiny Finger

Works for puppies

posted 6 years ago

We got this for our GSD when she was a puppy. My husband's finger is not especially large, but didn't fit in this finger brush, and as a result, it split open when he forced it. Also, it sometimes got stuck on his finger and he had a hard time getting it off after.

The bristles are tiny nubs that are rubbery. You can have good control with these, but if the dog bites down, it still hurts a heck of a lot. They don't clean as well as a brush does, but it helps and you can feel where you are rubbing it, as opposed to a brush that you need to see where you are brushing.

I think it is good for getting your dog used to it, but then switching to a toothbrush is probably better. I'd still use it on a squirmy puppy.

Pros: Gets puppies used to toothbrushing

Cons: Small and still hurts when doggies bite down

Best Way to Brush Dog's Teeth

posted 7 years ago

Love these! Nothing is more difficult than trying to get a toothbrush in a dog's mouth. This make the task a little easier. Messy, but easier. My dog tolerated this well and I felt like I might actually be cleaning something in there instead of poking around with a toothbrush.

Pros: Easier than a toothbrush...

Cons: ...but still pretty darn messy

Don't forget to brush

posted 7 years ago

Brushing my dogs' teeth is important and never an easy task. Putting this small brush on your finger makes it very easy to get inside the dog's mouth. My dog's find it less invasive. I don't find it as effective as a bristle tooth brush.

Pros: Very easy to use

Cons: Not as effective as a brush

I prefer the toothbrush over this finger brush

posted 6 years ago

I tried this when first inroducing my dogs to teeth cleaning. The finger brush kept slipping of my finger in their mouths, and even when I was able to keep it on, my finger kept getting chomped on (they're big dogs). Plus, I think the toothbrush bristles do a better job at cleaning, but this can be good for training, and for pets with smaller mouths (and people whose fingers are big enough to not have this keep slipping off).

Pros: Can be good for cats and dogs with smaller mouths

Cons: Fingers get chomped, slides off finger
