Dingo Dental Mini Bones provide solid dental health, but not much nutrition.

September 2, 2010 6:35 pm | By Zootoo Editor Flinn D.

The Dingo Dental Bone, now offering chicken in the middle, is the new guy at the table when it comes to dental chew bones. Why? Because Dingo Dental is trying something that has never been tried before by another Dental chew bone – they are putting a wet, juicy, smelly treat that dogs love actually inside of their chew. Will it work? I know you are quivering with anticipation.

Let’s find out. First, it’s important to point out that while the world of dental bones has never seen anything in the middle, let alone juicy flavorful chicken, the concept is not new to the world of treats where “soft centers” are practically old hat by now.

Unfortunately, the concept needs some work. As delicious as the exterior of Dingo Dental appears to be, it’s still too hard for dogs to work their way through to the meaty, juicy center. Our tester dog chewed on his for about a half an hour and still had no idea there was anything inside of his bone until I broke it in half for him.

The ingredients in Dingo Dental include rawhide, chicken, water, corn sugar and the preservative sorbate. There’s nothing in it that will harm your dog but there’s nothing in it that is particularly good for him either. It’s important to remember that Dingo Dental Bone helps your dog by stimulating his gums and satisfying his natural instinct to chew – not because of its natural ingredients.

Bottom line: A solid entry into the dental bone world but still needs some time to work out the kinks.

Pros: Dogs will love chewing these, and not just because of the meaty center.

Cons: Not entirely preservative-free.
