Highly portable for small dogs and cats
posted 4 years ago
This carrier is 21" X 16" X 15" in dimensions, and recommended for small breed dogs like mini pinschers and cats. What attracted me to this carrier was that the door opening is large. Most carriers designed for cats have a door that is too small to try and fit the cat head first into, especially once the cat sticks its legs out to the side to prevent going in. I also like that it is more square than rectangular, so more like an equal sided box. An average to large sized cat can easily stand and turn around inside this carrier.
A cat is fairly easy to get inside head first if using a toy or treat to encourage the cat to go in. I've put two kittens under 7 pounds inside one also.
I place mine in the house with the door open and will find a cat inside sleeping, so it is a cozy, quiet place for napping.
I haven't found this sized Petmate pet porter available in many stores, so stumbled onto it by accident and bought the last one.
Pros: Large door opening and taller in height than most carriers designed for cats
Cons: Not as long if animal wants to stretch legs straight out in front and behind
