Safe transport for cats

posted 6 years ago

My cat gets very upset in the car. This kennel cab has made it possible to transport him without all of the stress. He does not seem to mind going, as a matter of fact he sleeps in there when we are home. It is also a much safer way to travel.

Pros: a safe way to transport cats

Cons: has to be taken apart to clean

Economical and sturdy crate

posted 5 years ago

I have moved cats great distances by plane and car using both soft and hard sided carriers. I also have needed a crate just to go short distances such as the vets. I had 2 intermediate sized crates until I never got one back from an adopter of a foster cat. I like to spray them with the Clorox Anywhere Hard Surface spray to sanitize them, especially after bringing fosters back from the pound or from an Adoption Day outing. I find that they don't require a lot of upkeep, and can take quite a bit of abuse.

The intermediate crate is an overall good size for the averaged sized cat, and is a economical choice. Going the next size up gets pricier--well, it has more material and is bigger, but better suited for a dog. However, convincing a cat to go into the crate is an entirely different matter. I up-end these crates on the side opposite the door opening. With the door open and steadying the crate between my legs, I then pick up the cat and place them butt first through the opening. If the cat splays out its legs, then they can block the door opening and struggle not to be placed inside. The key is to be quick and catch the cat unawares before trying to place in the crate. My cats have this innate sense of knowing when I am going to use the crate, and I don't even have to touch it or rattle the door before they are spooked into hiding under a bed or other unaccessible place.

I also like the little compartment that you can place a collar or treats inside. I have had a foster cat chew/pull off the little rubber tabs on the door latch that cover the metal ends and make it easy for the human to grip the latch while opening and closing it. Now I just leave them off, but my thumbs miss the rubber padding.

This is a great crate to use with kittens as they haven't been too conditioned to fear the "bad box" yet. I have been able to put up to four 8 week old kittens in this one crate.

Lightweight and easy to handle, pick up and move. Good ventilation and plenty of air holes. Cats feel pretty secure once inside. Hardest part is getting the cat into it.

Since I use this for cats, I don't use it for training as you would with a dog, so feel that rating is more of a neutral or not applicable to this review.

Pros: I like that the handle is recessed so that these can be stacked

Cons: Intermediate size door opening is hard to cram a cat into

Comfy, secure and durable.

posted 6 years ago

I have had this crate for quite some time. I have used it for transporting and also for training purposes and it has worked great for both. Both of my mini dachshunds are able to fit in it during long trips and it makes them feel secure.

Pros: Multiple values.

Cons: None.

Mom approves of this kennel

posted 6 years ago

I was at my Mom's the other day. She had just gotten back with one of the cats to the vet office. (cat has issues with over grooming itself, it has like no hair). They are trying to figure out what meds would work best.

But I noticed the carrier my Mom was using for the cat. (been noticing things like this since Zootoo). I asked my Mom why this one.

It is very sturdy, easy to take apart to clean, lightweight, affordable.

My Mom has been getting concerned with my interest in the cat stuff. I told her about zootoo. (she has no computer), so she was showing me everything she uses and why. So now I need to get some pictures, but her cats would hide. So will just do reviews.

And if my Mom approves of something, then you know it has to be good.

Pros: nice, easy to manage, affordable

Cons: none

I have 3 cats and they love this food. They eat less and walk away with a full belly. Eating less means pooping less and less litter. All around a great choice for my cats.
