The Kyjen Dog Elf Hat keeps your pooch looking festive all year long.

October 19, 2011 1:42 am | By Zootoo Editor Flinn D.

For a festive canine costume that can celebrate both Howl-o-Ween and Christmas (or any day of the year, if you’re feeling in the spirit), the Dog Elf Hat from Kyjen is a solid option at an affordable price.

The Kyjen Dog Elf Hat is part of the company’s extensive line of holiday-themed headgear and costumes for dogs — and it’s worth noting that many of the small-sized hats can also be used for felines, although you’ll have to assess your own cat’s tolerance for being costumed at all before assuming that the costume won’t be torn to shreds if you try to use it on your kitty. Kyjen also carries Santa bandannas, lighted antlers, and an array of Halloween-specific costumes such as pumpkin headpieces and witch hats with hair.

The Kyjen Dog Elf Hat, however, is an easy way to outfit your dog for a holiday photo or to take him trick-or-treating. The design is simple — a red and green striped hat with an adjustable band underneath, and cute brown ears stitched to the sides to complete the elf illusion.

The material of the Kyjen Dog Elf Hat is appropriately soft and shouldn’t irritate your dog (beyond the irritation of having to wear a costume at all), and though the adjustable band may not stand up to pooches who are determined to get the hat off, the band is secure enough that you should be able to snap a few adorable pics before losing the battle to keep your dog costumed.

Also, the Kyjen Dog Elf Hat comes in three sizes (S, M, L), a convenient plus that you can’t always find in dog headpieces. And for the price — around $6 during some online sales — this cute costume is truly a gift of festivity (at least to yourself, if not your humiliated dog) that keeps on giving.

Pros: Comfortable; range of sizes helps ensure secure fit.

Cons: Adjustable band may not stand up to dogs determined to get the hat off.

I have 3 cats and they love this food. They eat less and walk away with a full belly. Eating less means pooping less and less litter. All around a great choice for my cats.
