Doesn't Work for Large Breeds

posted 6 years ago

This simply does not work with large breeds; i.e., German Shepherds. It was a pain to install and didn't stop our dog from anything.

Pros: None

Cons: First two units had to be returned, doesn't work with large breeds

When it works, it's great

posted 6 years ago

My parents had once installed the invisible fencing (with the wire) when we had gotten our first dog. It was great (until my father decided to plow the driveway and accidentally dug up the line/cut the wire...). Since it was mid-winter (and digging to put a new line in was not a possibility due to the fact the ground was frozen), we bought the wireless system. It was not difficult to train our old dog on (or the new puppy) and was very convenient to take with us and use if we went long-term visiting to relatives' houses.

We noticed a while back that if the dishwasher in the house was running, the dog's collar would beep as though it were about to go off on occasion (especially if he was standing within a 10 foot radius of the thing). I don't know if that was mere coincidence or what, but let me tell you, the puppy was scared to death. That was the only downfall we had noticed (and have since resorted to using the dishwasher when the dog is crated for the night)

Pros: not having to dig a line to put invisible fencing in :-)

Cons: have experienced some problems with the collar shocking at inappropriate times
