Canine Seat Belt

Rating: 4.3

Average rating from 11 reviews.

(4.3 out of 5, based on 11 reviews)

Travel with your pet in safety with a Canine Seat Belt. The soft nylon web harness is adjustable and easy to fit. It helps protect your pet in case of an accident or quick stop and prevents him from interrupting you while you're driving. And, it doubles as a walking harness! Remove from package and hold by metal d-ring. When connected properly, the ring will be visible and accessible on the dog's back. Disconnect the plastic buckles. Place the d-ring assembly on the dog's back at the base of the neck. The two-inch non-padded loop faces the dog's tail. The dog's front left leg will go between the two one-inch webbing straps and the padded strap. Center the padded section in the middle of the dog's chest. Wrap the front strap up and around the front of the dog's right leg, adjust for a comfortable fit and connect the buckle. Wrap the bottom strap behind the dog's front right leg, up and around the dog's rib cage. Adjust for a comfortable fit and connect the buckle. The Canine Seat Belt is now ready for use as a vehicle restraint or a walking harness.

Great seatbelt for dogs

posted 5 years ago

We bought this for our dogs because we simply wanted to play it safe. It took a while for them to get used to, but it paid off when we had to stop short one day. They were held on the back car seat and they were fine.

Pros: for that "you never know" situation

Cons: takes a while to get used to

Useful for Car Rides

posted 5 years ago

This harness lets me take my dog, Sam, in the car safely. It fits like a regular harness, but has a loop on the back through which you put the car's seat belt. It keeps Sam in the back seat, but lets him change positions. It can be used as a walking harness also.

It took a little getting used for Sam. At first, he was getting his legs tangled in the car's seat belt that was attached to the harness. When he gets excited and active in the car, he can still get a leg tangled sometimes. Also, he has stepped on the "button" where you attach the car's seat belt buckle. This releases the buckle and he can then pull the harness so that the car's seat belt comes out of the harness loop. Then you have a free moving dog, though he is still in the harness.

Pros: Safe for dog, driver & passengers; Can be used for walking too

Cons: Dog can be tangled in car's belt; dog may get out
