I wish my coat was as warm!
posted 5 years ago
Charlie is a SATO from Puerto Rico and hadn't encountered cold weather until he got up to New England. His coat didn't really come in until November so there was a good period of time where he was miserable on our walks!
Now, I always thought people who made their dogs wear coats were just plain strange; I vowed to never put my dog through that sort of thing, but honestly, Charlie was REALLY cold so something had to be done!
Pete found this coat online and, after a lot of research on various coats, we decided to order a small red coat (he is 30-35 lbs and it is a perfect fit). Charlie was a little iffy with the coat at first, but once he got used to it (we made him wear it for a few hours and gave him some liver treats to reinforce it), it is now an essential piece of his daily wardrobe.
The fleece keeps him so toasty warm and has been so great on these freezing winter days! The material is water-resistant so it works very well in the snow; it does the job in the rain, too, but definitely starts to soak in after a while. It does, however, dry fast. The coat is reflective which is nice for walks at night.
All in all, a great coat and definitely worth the purchase. Your dog will not be disappointed!
Pros: adjustable to fit to any size, fleece is very warm, reflective - good at night
Cons: not waterproof (is water-resistant)

Holds Up Well

Short haired dogs often need a coat in the winter where we live. This one is very durable, nice looking, easy to clean and is not as bulky as some other coats I have used.
