A good crate for traveling
posted 5 years ago
I made the mistake of buying one of these crates when I first got Bacon. It was supposed to be his every day crate. But after a week...I felt so gulity that he was claustrophobic...I got him a midwest crate. However...I use the Vari Kennel when we have to go on a longer trip in the car. Bacon is afraid of the car...so he feels secure in the Vari-Kennel. Besides that..it fits great in the SUV and is easy to clean.
Pros: Good sturdy crate
Cons: Not good for every day use

Great for Training & Traveling
posted 6 years ago
These crates are great. They come in all different sizes and can be used to transport your pets on airplanes. They come apart which makes them easy to bring along if you are traveling and can't fit them in your vehicle when they are put together. This crate is a great housetraining tool for puppies or older dogs who have never been housetrained. These crates also keep puppies safe when you are not home. Many puppies are given up to shelters because they are ripping apart a home or going to the bathroom in the house when their owners are not home. Crate training your puppy prevents these behaviors.
These crates are easy to clean and are quite durable. Two of my dogs have had these crates for years. They were crate trained as puppies and still love to nap in their crates. Another of my dogs has a wire crate and the plastic ones are much easier to clean. These plastic crates seem more cozy and comfortable for your pet than the wire crates. If I ever need to buy another crate it will be one of these instead of another wire crate.
One thing that I noticed is that the metal door and side windows are not rust proof. When I rescued one of my dogs she was quite anxious at first and would salivate a lot while in the crate. The crate door did begin to rust in a few spots. My other dog's crate has no rust on it.
I definitely recommend these crates for your dogs, cats or other small pets.
Pros: Comes Apart, Comes In Different Sizes, Durable, Airplane Approved
Cons: Metal Door and Metal Side Windows are Not Rust Proof

These are great for my dogs. I feel like they are more secure for my dogs and they probably help keep my dog warmer during the winter months since three of the sides are mostly solid so not much air goes through them. When the dogs have an accident it is usually contained in this kennel, though one of my fosters was smart and aimed out the door so she stayed clean and I had to clean the rug. The is a great kennel.
Pros: keep dogs secure
Cons: need more colors

Two of every size
posted 5 years ago
We have two of every size of these Petmate Vari Kennels. We did not plan it that way it is just how it has worked out. If we go to a garage sale and see one we buy it if reasonably priced. They scrub up with bleach water and store well in the barn loft. We have hauled everything from chickens to the fair, to a miniature cow I was bottle feeding to a Holiday Inn in Indiana. They are wonderful for dogs, cats, and deer also. Just throw a blanket over it in the evening and the pet will lay down for bed time.
Pros: easy to clean, durable, comfortable
