Great dog crate!
posted 4 years ago
When I adopted my husky pup, I wanted to try crate training him. None of my other family dogs had ever been crate trained, and it was a new thing to me.
For the first few weeks, Kadan would cry when left alone in it. Despite this however, he'd have no trouble going to sleep in it at night. After a few months, I stopped using the crate at night, figuring I could trust him to be potty trained and not chew anything up in the house. He never had any problems with soiling in the house or chewing things up, but on the times when he'd be left at home and I'd bring out the crate, he acted like he couldn't wait to go inside it! He'd get excited just hearing me ask "You wanna go to bed?" because he knew "go to bed" meant his crate. Nowadays I leave the crate in my bedroom, despite it's massive size (I've got a 40" one). Sometimes he'll just walk off and go into my bedroom to sleep in it when he's sleepy. He'd rather be in his crate than on a cozy dog bed or even my bed.
My only complaints are the screw attachments used to keep the two halves of the crate together. Some of the holes are really difficult to push the screws through. Sometimes I'd find myself having to HAMMER the screws through the hole before I could actually screw them into the plastic knobs. I eventually opted to use zipties instead. A lot easier to deal with!
Pros: Airline safe, secure, great ventilation, dog loves it!
Cons: Screw attachments sometimes difficult and annoying to put crate together

They are not just for dogs
posted 5 years ago
I have four of these crates, but I don't have a dog.
I do have 3 cubby cats (one Maine Coon) so I need a carrier with (ahmmm..) " whisker clearance".
The cost may seem little high for cat owners but they are worth it. I got my first 2 in 1988. They are now their second generation of cats and still look (and work) like they are new.
I found may 3rd crate at a flea market and since it is big enough for me to nap in I dragged it home for my foster mamma's to help with the kittens. I added a rope shelf in the back and an old light from a fish tank to trick the new digs out.
My 4th crate was harder to find. I had to go to a few places before I found it at Pets Supply Plus. It cost a little more then the other "cat" carriers they had but it is worth it.
They are airline approved. They come with dishes that hook onto the door. They are also built to last.
Pros: Tough
Cons: They aren't carried by every store.

Great kennel!!
posted 5 years ago
My dog has horrible separation anxiety, therefore I need to keep him in a crate when I am gone. He is a vizsla so is fairly large, I got him the giant crate and he just loves it! I have had problems with smaller ones as they seemed to bring on more issues with the size and in this its like he has his own little apartment that he stays in. Extremely easy to assemble, easy to clean, with a bed inside its very comfortable, in fact my 5'5" frame can go into it comfortably- Great purchase for the money!
Pros: Great at home kennel!
Cons: none

Like for my transports
posted 5 years ago
I like to transport dogs (www.doggietransportguy.com). And if I have more than 2 dogs, they have to go into a carrier. The Petmate Deluxe is a nice one. It is so easy to come apart and makes cleaning them a breeze.
Pros: easy to clean, well made
Cons: can't think of one

Great Houses.
posted 4 years ago
I use the blue colored crates and the super large gray crates. These provide ease of mind when transporting my animals that they remain safe. The crates clean easy and are comfortable with ample air flow. I train the animals to go to their houses so in the event of an emergency, I can quickly contain them. They provide adequate houses while I have to be away for a couple of hours. Love them.
Pros: Durability
Cons: crate door spring
