I have a Wesite that was diagnosed with a protein allergy by a University of Georgia Veterinary Dermatologist about 4 years ago. After we tried many treatments for his horrible skin condition to include sores and hair loss. He did not respond to any other special diets (lamb, rabbit, kangaroo, venison). They prescribed a home cooked diet. This was not fun since I also had a 6 month old baby at the time! I diligently cooked him fish and vegetables for 8 weeks. I even came up with a dry food recipe because he missed the crunchy food. His skin improved. Now what?! Home cook for my dog forever? I would have, but I certainly did not want to. So once we knew that fish was the only protein he could tolerate, we tried one last food. Iams Veterinary Formula for Skin & Coat. It worked! He got to eat dog food again, I got to stop spending hours cooking dog food, and we all got to enjoy his awesome skin and coat again!

I am so thankful that this food is made. I wish there were more products that took into account protein sensitivities in animals. It is somewhat inconvenient to order it from the vet's office and it is definitely more expensive. But it is worth it!! I would highly recommend this food to anyone with skin & coat issues that had not responded to traditional diets.

If you have a dog with allergies or derma/fur issues - this is a very healthy product to serve. Pets love to eat it. Even the most fincky will enjoy.
