Good for puppy training and descipline

posted 6 years ago

Newspapers are good to lay down and to teach your dog to use the bathroom on. The last puppy I had I would always praise him when he came close to the newspaper. Soon he got the idea that he would get praised if he used the bathroom on the newpaper.

Also there is the roled up newpaper for discipline. alot of people will think this is old fashioned. However I have found if I role up a newpaper and swat it against my hand my dogs will quite what they are doing and say No. It only takes one swat on the behind with the newpaper and saying no. Then I usually just show my dogs the newspaper and they quite doing the unwanted behavior.

I know some people will say this is old fashioned and I use positive behavior. I find a combination of the 2 work best. If my pit bulls are playing to rough I need something that is going to break it up fast.. I cannot afford to let things escalate. Smaking the newpaper against my hand makes a big noise and they usually quit.

Pros: good for puppy training

Cons: none

Not the best for housebreaking

posted 6 years ago

Newspapers are the cheaper way to try and teach your puppy to be housebroken, but they are messy. The shelter uses alot of newspapers to line the bottoms of their cages for cats, puppies and small dogs. They work really well for that use.

Pros: Cheap & useful

Cons: messy
