Our dog wears his safety vest when we are walking in the National Forest. Since he is a chocolate lab - we don't want him mistaken for a small deer. He also wears his vest when working on the property with his dad. Protects his tummy from burs and small branches.
Pros: light, easy to wear, safe and visible, easy to clean

I have seen dogs being walked with these on when I come home at night. They really stand out. Also good to have on hikes if there are hunters in the area.
Pros: lets your dog be seen
Cons: some dogs might not like it
