The Perfect Pet

Enjoyable easy to read book with great illustrations.

Pros: Children enjoy the pictures.

Cons: You want to buy one for the school library as well.

A wonderful story, beautifully illustrated, about a little girl's search for a pet companion that will work within the boundaries of her parents' limits.

In such a short story, it nicely conveys the thought process behind her parents' objections, and how her young mind creatively finds ways to work with them. Her ultimate choice is surprising.

This book is fun to read out loud. It was featured in Children's Story Hour at a local bookstore a few months ago and received genuine chuckles from parents and kids alike who recognized similarities to conversations in their own homes on the same topic.

Pros: well-illustrated, well-conceived, educational without being preachy

Cons: too short!
