Packs in a lot of lessons

posted 5 years ago

I don't care for this book by Eric Carle as much as some of his others. Very young kids probably enjoy the repetition and seeing the grouchy ladybug learn his lesson in the end, but I found the storyline to be kind of weird. Why does the ladybug challenge all the other creatures and then back down? In any case, kids can learn about size, time, linear progression, character, etc. from this book, so it's definitely worth reading.

Pros: Colorful illustrations

Cons: Bizzare storyline

A Great Pre-School Read

posted 4 years ago

I have always loved Eric Carl books, but more importantly these books were a pre-school favorite of my daughter. This is an excellent beginning reader and introduction to social skills.

Pros: great beginning reader

Cons: none
