Snack 21 Natural Pacific Whiting Snacks For Cats

Editor's Review
Snack 21 Pacific Whiting Snacks serve up healthy ingredients with a taste cats love.
August 26, 2010 11:05 pm | By Zootoo Editor Emily S.
As much as I generally deplore stereotypes and biases, I will cop to this one: I like Canada. Our vast neighbor to the north produces so many laudable things: decent, down-to-earth people, excellent comedians, maple syrup…and now, Snack 21 dried ocean whiting.
Just a glance at the cheerful red package produced a feeling of relief in this harried shopper: here was a product I could trust, a product with quiet confidence, a product which wouldn’t lead me astray with hyperbolic claims or empty promises.
The only question was, would our tester cat Francie like it? The answer: a resounding YES. The minute I put the unopened package on the counter, she perked up, and when I offered her a few of the flaky morsels from my palm, she gobbled them up with a fervor I hadn’t seen her express since the time I accidentally let my toes dangle over the edge of the bed, where she could reach them with her teeth.
Snack 21’s dried ocean whiting does smell a bit – it is dried fish, after all – but a temporary whiff of the sea is a small price to pay for an all-natural, safely-made, nutritious snack your cat will love. Oh, Canada!
Pros: Your cats will love the taste; all-natural ingredients lets you indulge them guilt-free.
Cons: The dried fish smells like, well, dried fish — but a minor drawback for an otherwise solid product.

Healthy treat, No Additives
posted 4 years ago
I bought these treats as a healthy alternative to the pounce and temptations treats. When doing reviews on zootoo, I was shocked to read the ingredients of the treats I was giving my cats. These treats were about the same price, but much healthier. My cats seem to like the treats, except for Tiger, who does not like hard treats. The only downside is that the treats are a little smelly. I will definitely buy these treats again.
Pros: Dried fish, no fillers
Cons: smelly

Tasty, but not the best out there
posted 4 years ago
The package says they are 100% natural and have no additives and no preservatives. The treats are dried Pacific Whiting (I had never even heard of that kind of fish.) The treats come in a re-sealable package and do not require refrigeration. A plus as I like to keep the number of stinky cat products in my fridge down. The treats do look just like bits of freeze-dried fish and there is a very fishy aroma when you open the package. They are tasty, but the cat didn’t go crazy for them. He voluntarily walked away after eating a couple. Probably not a bad thing—there are some treats I think he would try to eat the entire package. But I am not sure that these are really a treat if they aren’t all that great. Not entirely certain what I think about them.
Pros: No preservatives or additives
Cons: Good but not great taste
