Petco Catnip offers felines and their owners fantastic bang for the buck.
October 5, 2010 4:51 pm | By Zootoo Editor AmyLi
Petco’s Catnip is a classic, no-nonsense brand of catnip that two tester cats, who are used to other brands, took to instantly, without question. Petco’s 1.6 oz plastic container of catnip comes in an easy-to-open tub, which you can store in any cupboard without the risk of the product falling over and creating a total mess. Petco doesn’t try to hype the dried herb up in order to present it as beyond what it actually is, working against other companies’ tactics of advertising their ‘nip as the world’s most potent blend out there, or the only kind that will make your kitty go wild.
Petco’s offering on the catnip market is just all-natural, U.S.A grown – note the difference between this and organic – and cats seem to like it just fine. Catnip seems to involve a very personal experience – some cats really take to it, and others just don’t bite at its appeal – so it’s hard to say if this brand, in particular, could be the one to help sway a cat in either direction. But it smells fresh and minty, not too dry and not too moist; these cats loved to rub in it, and later nap on it, on their favorite scratching post, which rests on the ground. It could also work just as well when scattered on the floor, in any toys or on a cat’s bed, if you aren’t concerned about having to pick up after playtime is over.
The catnip seemed to have a certain longevity to it, as well, keeping the cats well amused into the next few days, as they searched for remnants of it on the floor and around their play area. It can be purchased in all Petco stores, and on Petco’s website for $3.99, with a present reduced price of $2.97.
Pros: Good bang for your buck; generic label doesn’t compromise quality.
Cons: No negatives about showing your cat a good time!

My 4 always look forward to their Nip parties but this brand didn't attract them at all. They would see the catnip, give it a sniff and walk away!
They gave 4 paws down!
Pros: none
Cons: Showed no interest in this brand

Crazy for Catnip in a Plastic Tub!
posted 4 years ago
Our cat Nicky goes crazy for catnip. He loves it when we sprinkle some on his favorite toy. That is not enough for Nicky boy though. He wants the mother load. The little plastic bags he bites holes in, but this tub holds a lot, and so far he hasn't figured out how to open it. Believe me, he's tried!!
Pros: Cats love it and can't chew holes in the tub to get to it!
Cons: None
