Friskies Party Mix Wild West Crunch Cat Treats

As much as people might hate to admit it, junk food tastes good. Should McDonald’s (for instance) be the mainstay of one’s diet? Probably not. But is McDonald’s sometimes just what the doctor ordered (not literally)? In this reviewer’s opinion, oh YES.

Like the occasional stop for fast food, Friskies Party Mix is a favorite treat, and while it may not be “a substitute for a nutritionally complete and balanced meal” (as a disclaimer on the packaging says), it is delicious – or must be (I didn’t go so far as to taste it), if my cat Francie’s enthusiasm is any indication.

Party mix comes in flavors to suit every mood, and in a variety of shapes; Francie’s favorite, Wild West Crunch (beef, liver, and cheddar), features a square, a star, a cow’s head, and a twist (which I mistook for a bison in blurry profile). Other varieties include Beachside (shrimp, crab, and tuna), Mixed Grill (chicken, beef, and salmon), Picnic (chicken, turkey, and cheddar), and Original Crunch (chicken, liver, and turkey).

The resealable pouch keeps the treats fresh, and if you can ignore the picture of the deranged, plastic-looking cat on the bag (as well as the dubious claim that cats can “explore” colors), there’s no better way to (occasionally) say, “thanks for using your scratching post”, “you were very brave at the vet”, or even just “TGIF”.

Pros: Your cat will become addicted to the taste.

Cons: Not exactly nutritionally balanced.
