This toy has staying power

posted 5 years ago

This is a small plush bird with a very small pouch to tuck catnip into. It has an electronic chirp in it that goes off when the toy gets batted around. The chirping is not at all realistic-sounding and I don't know if it adds to the appeal of the toy or not. The chirper does seem to be well protected within the toy and it doesn't seem to be something a cat tries to go after or eat. So, it seems pretty safe. (However, my sister's dog would very much like to eat the bird, so it does not seem to be dog safe at all!!!) I bought this toy over one year ago mostly because it was different. I try to buy Smarty Cat toys because the parent company tries to be very eco-friendly (www.worldwise.com). Amazingly, this was a huge hit and remains popular. Like all toys, I hide it away from time to time so it is "new" when it reappears. But, it still is interesting. Very durable, in my experience--still chirps away. But, I bought two for my sister's cats for Christmas last year and the chirp gave out within weeks of the toy's arrival.

Pros: Very popular--even over time

Cons: Chirping is a little annoying, but you get used to it

My cat has learned to make it chirp in her mouth so it looks like she is chirping. Very funny toy and cat. I think you should all have one

Pros: fun to watch the play
