Tried this out on our shelter cats, and they had a ball with it. My older cats at home were afraid of it and I couldn't easily encourage them on to it, even with catnip, though they may have gotten used to it over time, I thought it best to just let the shelter kitties have a go at it, and boy was I amazed to see the fun they had!!! I sprayed a little catnip spray on it too, and I do think that helped initially. In any case, our shelter cats really love this toy. It was really worth the few dollars it cost to see them have such fun. And its available at Wal-Mart, too.

Pros: moving jingle ball toy in tube and hanging from canopy, sisal (burlap-like) cradle to roll around on and to claw, several activities, good for multiple cat play

Cons: cats can catch a claw in the hanging rope that suspends one toy ball, suggest supervision, one safety may be that the rope is'n't permanently attached but is on a hook

I bought this yesterday since it was on clearance for $5.00, and my cats got more than $5.00 worth of play out of it the first evening! They were a little leery of it at first, but I sprinkled some catnip on it to ease their fears--and then they really enjoyed it.

Assembly was easy, but the instructions were pretty useless. The instructions actually contained pictures of the parts in the WRONG color, which is absurd. Fortunately, just looking at the assembled product on the box is enough to complete the assembly.

Since I've had this less than a day, I don't know how well it will hold up, but--based on similar Sport Pet products--I'd guess "not very well". I think it will hold up much longer for my declawed cats (and for kittens) than it would for clawed cats, but I don't expect a "long life-expectancy" for this product.

The clearance price is "excellent"; I doubt I would pay the full price for it, though.

I put this toy out for my cats and Diablo had to be the first to play with it. Within 10 minutes he had pulled the roller apart from the base. Even though the roller was no longer attached, he continued to play with the ball in the roller. When he was tired, he laid down on the sisal base and scratched it somewhat. He also pulled the string out of the hanging ball. Some of my other cats played a little with the ball in the roller while others just wanted to lay on the sisal base. So it might be a better toy for kittens who might get more enjoyment playing with it while not being too big to tear it apart.
