Triclosan in Dermcare Oatmeal Shampoo

posted 3 years ago

Those of us who are genuinely concerned about our companion animals must also be concerned about the welfare of the other animals...including humans...who share our planet. So, when we find a product we like to use, we need to encourage the manufacturer to be environmentally responsible. Triclosan, although relatively non-toxic to humans and animals in the products we use, is causing severe concern in the environment. The over-use of antimicrobials is strengthening the resistance of bacteria like e.coli. Additionally, there is evidence that triclosan in the water system, exposed to sunlight, is poisoning aquatic life by converting, in part, to dioxin, one of the deadliest toxins around.

I really liked the Derm Care Oatmeal Shampoo. If you did, too, please consider the longer-term effects and encourage its manufacturer to stop using the triclosan.

Pros: Lathers well. Made their coats shiny. Only moderate skin irritation. Liked the scent.

Cons: Was very irritating to the skin of one of my dogs. Contains triclosan.

Great for dry itchy skin

posted 5 years ago

This shampoo has soothing aloe to reduce dry, flaky skin on your cat. It also doesn't strip the skin of its natural oils.

Pros: none

Cons: none
