Smart Cat Ultimate Scratching Post

our oldest cat was declawed when my husband adopted her, so when we found and raised 4 kittens, the challenges of training a cat to scratch on appropriate surfaces was new to us. i scoured books and the internet, looking for any advice i could find..."spray the scratcher with catnip spray", "dangle a toy from the top", "put it near furniture they have a habit of clawing", and so on and so forth. we were ready for a challenge.

to our delight, the kittens took to the Ultimate Scratching post right away. we fortunately had the foresight to assemble it (very simple assembly, just need a screwdriver) before bringing it into our home, because no sooner than we brought it in and set it down, all of the kittens came swarming around and started clawing on it right away. it took no coaxing, no encouragement whatsoever on our part. the Ultimate Scratching post apparently is the most appealing scratching surface my cats could possibly imagine.

other good points: the top is big enough for a cat to perch on easily, which our kitties thoroughly enjoy doing. plus it's a beautiful piece of furniture. it's nice and tall, and the scratching surfaces are made of sisal fabric, not rope. it's got a great big base so it is very stable while scratching, though our kitties do occasionally knock it over when they're chasing each other around and take flying leaps into the top.

Not all cat scratchers are created equal! This one is very sturdy & the height is a real plush since cats like to stretch when they scratch. Even if your cats have no claws they still enjoy this activity!!
