Zodiac Flea & Tick Breakaway Collar For Cats

Rating:

Rating: 2.3

Average rating from 12 reviews.

(2.3 out of 5, based on 12 reviews)

One size fits all collar kills fleas and flea eggs for eight months and kills ticks, including those that carry lyme disease, for six months. Unique breakaway feature minimizes the risk of injury to your cat. This collar is designed to stretch under the weight of an average sized adult cat. It helps the cat to free itself (breakaway) if the collar gets snagged on a fixed object, making it especially great for outdoor cats. Offers continuous action even when wet. Do not allow children to play with this collar.Read entire label before each use. Use only on cats and kittens 12 weeks of age and older. Directions For Use: It is a violation of Federal law to use this product in a manner inconsistent with its labeling. Buckle collar around cat's neck. Thread flat end of the collar through buckle hole and tighten as necessary, so that at least two ridges are covered by the buckle. Since the plastic buckle is molded into the collar, the possibility of neck irritation and buckle failure is reduced. Fit collar snug enough to prevent placement of the cat's leg or lower jaw through the collar, yet loose enough to be rotated about the neck. Leave one to two extra inches on the collar for adjustment, cut off excess length and dispose of in trash. Check periodically and adjust fit if necessary, especially when kittens are rapidly growing. Replace in eight months for continuous protection from adult fleas and flea egg hatch. Replace in six months for continuous protection from ticks. To relea

Bad effect on kitty

posted 5 years ago

My neighbor put this collar on another neighbor's cat. Shortly after she did I happened to go out on the front porch & saw Charlie trying to walk towards me. He was reeling & couldn't walk a straight line as if he were drunk. I ran out & scooped him up & realized he was also drooling. Then I spotted the collar & immediately jerked it off of him & took him in the house to bathe him. Luckily he only wore the collar for less than 15 minutes so getting it off of him & bathing him in dishwashing detergent was all he needed to feel like himself again. I hate to think what would have happened had I not been there to remove the collar.

Pros: breakaway feature

Cons: made cat sick

I like the idea of a breakway flea collar. Would like to know if the ingredients can cause any harmful skin irritations on cats.

Pros: preventatve treatment

Cons: none known
