This is a story of a worker at New York City's Animal Medical Center, a large animal hospital. It discusses her work with other people in the hospital but mostly her work with the cats she cared for. It tells, with great heart, the stories of successes and failures while caring for the animals in her care. A snowflake in your hand is a very fragile thing which must be cared for very carefully or it will be lost and it may be lost even with the greatest care, and this is the theme of her story.
