For nursing kittens/puppies

posted 5 years ago

When faced with fussy kittens, my vet recommended trying goat's milk instead of kitten formula. It worked very well and the kittens thrived. I had used the canned but now found the powdered which will save money. I understand goat's milk is good for nursing almost all mammals.

Pros: Easy to digest

Cons: Liquid is expensive, powdered is not

Good alternative

posted 5 years ago

I used this at times at teh wildlife rehab center I volunteered at. We used it for the fawns when we would have a hard time finding evaporated milk. The fawns loved it but we had to be careful with the mixture and watch for intestinal upset.

Pros: none

Cons: none

Gives babies a good start

posted 5 years ago

Our shelter fosterers have used this, canned or carton, with great success. The babies seem to love it. Runs into money after a while, but hey.

Pros: Literally a life saver

Cons: Canned less easy to use than carton
