Great alternative to declawing !
posted 5 years ago
These work really well. If your cat is used to having his nails clipped, you shouldn't have a problem. I used them on my cat for awhile. He has had his claws clipped since he was a kitten so while he didn't like me putting them on, I could do it without much of a fuss. He used to stay at a friend's house who was very picky, and blamed my cat for every pick in the furnature and thought I should get him declawed. These were a nice compromise. I never had a problem with them. They will either fall off eventually, or if you clip them like you were clipping a claw, the rest will slide off then. They also come in fun colors! I started with the clear, but liked the purple later. I've seen them in Haloween and Christmas colors too.
Pros: Great if you don't want to declaw but have a scratcher
Cons: none

Like Soft Claws Nail Caps, but this product isn't for everybody
posted 5 years ago
I'm for anything that will keep a cat owner from de-clawing a cat, and this one product that can help a great deal, if you can get them on your cat. I've used these with success in the past, but now I have problems with my hands that make it impossible, especially when you add the fact that most cats aren't going to sit still for placement any too easily.
Trimming nails helps, and consistent work teaching your cat where they can stratch, and where you'd really prefer they don't. It is a lot of work, but the best for all in the end if you'll just hang in there and give the cat a chance.
Pros: great idea, work for a time, better than de-clawing
Cons: can be a little difficult to place on a cat

Good alternative
posted 5 years ago
These stick-on nails are good alternatives to declawing a cat. However, my cats refuse to let me put them on. They are not easy to use and need to be replaced every couple of months.
Pros: none
Cons: none

Good, but not great
posted 5 years ago
My roommate uses these and they fall off after a few days. It stops the scratching of furniture, but not snagging of fabric like then the cats are playing or running around.
Pros: stops scratching
Cons: doens't stop snagging, fall off
