Good once your cat is used to them
posted 5 years ago
I have a friend who uses these with his cats. They don't necessarily claw anything but I guess he wants to prevent it just in case. Once the cats were used to having them on, it was fine. There is an adjustment period though.
Pros: Great alternative to declawing
Cons: Can be difficult to use depending on the cat

Great alternative to declawing
posted 5 years ago
These are a great alternative to declawing those cats who just love to scratch. We had a cat come into our shelter who was a beautiful siamese. Absolutely gorgeous but she was a royal...well, you know. She swatted and hissed and growled and was semi-feral. An adopter came forward bound and determined to adopt that cat. I was a little hesistant due to the cat's personality but hated the thought of putting down a cat that possibly had a home waiting. SO, I warned the adopter about the cat's personality. She invested in some of these soft claw tips and it made a world of difference for that cat and saved her new owner's hand from scratches. The cat still swats and hisses and growls but now she does so with safely capped nails.
Pros: cuts down on scratching, alternative to painful declawing
Cons: some work to apply

our cat just didn't let these get put on and the couple that did - came right off...
I would never de-claw my cat so we have scratching posts in a couple of places for our cats.
Pros: uncertain
Cons: cat didn't want them

Not too impressed
posted 5 years ago
My roommate got these for her cats to stop them from snagging up my furniture covers. They fall off weekly. They did stop scratches if they were actually scratching the furniture, but if they were running across the furniture, there were still snags in the covers from them.
Pros: stops scratching
Cons: falls off quickly, doesn't stop snagging
