Wellness Healthy Indulgence offers premium ingredients to entice finicky eaters.
October 1, 2010 9:16 pm | By Zootoo Editor AmyLi
Wellness Healthy Indulgence offers cats another possibility for a proper, gourmet sit-down meal that comes in a unique packaging. Wellness delivers its balanced wet-food dish in a zip-lock pouch, allowing owners to keep and store the food in the fridge for several days, or potentially weeks, at a time.
Wellness’ meaty morsels don’t contain any wheat, wheat gluten, corn, soy, artificial colors or flavors. But there’s more than just tuna and turkey liver in there — Wellness works some unlikely ingredients into its blend, which most cats would regularly reject if it wasn’t so artfully disguised underneath the smooth turkey broth-based gravy. Wellness incorporates egg whites, potato starch, carrots, sweet potatoes, squash, zucchini, cranberries, blueberries and flaxseed into the mix, helping cats maintain a health skin and shiny coat, a proper urinary tract health, and to get their fair share of natural sources of antioxidants.
Cats aren’t likely to shy away when you open the Wellness package, though — it’s then that tuna shines through in this meal. The grain-free, meat-intensive recipe could help ease a sensitive cat’s stomach, but most cats will simply truly appreciate their share of this rich food, as my tester cats definitely did. Wellness does more than re-package some canned tuna, though, and the fine dining — and not to mention nutritious experience — comes at a price. A 1.4 pound bag, which could last anywhere from one week to several, depending on your cat’s appetite and if you mix this food with dry food or other varieties, runs for close to $30.
Your cat will certainly thank you for springing for the extra few bucks, but the question is if you will thank yourself when the food runs out, an expectant feline wants more, and you have to ask yourself whether to buy it again or not.
Pros: A-plus ingredients; irresistible taste; formula is appealing and healthy for cats.
Cons: Premium ingredients and flavor come at a premium price.

Love these pouches!

Wellness makes the ONLY worthwhile 'pouched' food on the market. No gluten's or by-products. Just all natural meats and vitamins in a gravy broth. My cats go CRAZY for Wellness pouches! I buy them as snacks since they are a bit pricey.
Pros: Gluten free, all natural!
Cons: .99 cents a packet but it's worth it.
